The Rocks Yandina

The Rocks Yandina, Sunshine Coast

Yandina is a pretty little town on the Sunshine Coast, just under 1.5 hours from Brisbane. It sits on the Maroochy River, which provides the perfect setting for a charming wedding venue like The Rocks. This historic residence has been turned into a relaxing and rustic wedding venue. The first (and best!) thing you’ll notice when you arrive is the open space. This venue takes full advantage of its sweeping views. And they cater for all types of weddings – sit-down, cocktail and banquets. Whether you want a small affair or a big party, they can make it happen.

SUPPORT AND SERVICE

The service at The Rocks Yandina is amazing. They give you a wedding coordinator who will make sure everything runs smoothly, and a list of local suppliers to help you plan. When you hire out The Rocks, you get exclusive access to the venue and its facilities for the day. That means everyone is at your disposal! And they’re more than happy to help you – I found the staff very friendly and available.

When I was there, they had just added a room where the bridal party can get ready on site. This was the first wedding where it was used and it worked really well. They’re always adding little touches to make the day perfect for every couple.

Wedding Videography at The Rocks Yandina

There are so many opportunities for any good wedding videographer in this picturesque location. And it’s great for the drone as well. The sunset is amazing, as the sun sets in the perfect spot, so we were able to take some great video footage around dusk. Their is also a cool railway-track canopy tunnel of trees. Its a tremendous place to create an amazing wedding video.

Your guests won’t be forgotten while you’re off taking photos. There’s a pre-dinner drinks package, so guests can relax and mingle in The Grove or on the terrace after the ceremony. The package includes rustic day beds, wine barrels, dry bar with stools…who couldn’t relax in a country setting like that?

Justina & Phil

I was so hesitant to engage a videographer to capture the day at first but I couldn’t be happier that we got Phil to be a part of our wedding. He put everyone at ease, even the nervous nellies, and really helped to keep the entire day run smoothly. He fit right in with everyone and was never intrusive or in the way. I can’t speak highly enough of our experience with Red Door Studios. I can’t wait to see the finished products and am already scheming events that we can invite him back to.

CEREMONIES

The Rocks provides an array of idyllic ceremony locations, depending on your vision. If an outdoor wedding is your dream, the banks of the river with sprawling water views would be ideal. There’s also a tree-lined grove and a paddock with mountain views on the horizon. It might be hard to pick which one is more beautiful. You can set up a marquee or even a tipi if that’s your thing.

If you prefer an indoor ceremony that doesn’t lose the natural beauty of the outdoors, they have a split-level River View Room with timber floors and fairy lights. You might get distracted by the views from this elevated position! They offer a range of packages – rustic, classic and boho – depending on your taste. So you can bring your vision to life.

Enjoy amazing food at the Rocks Yandina

As with your ceremony, there are several options for your reception. The Riverside Terrace is gorgeous on a clear night under the stars and festoon lights. They can also set up dinner in your marquee or tipi. As well as being a lovely ceremony location, The Grove is perfect for your reception – a relaxed grassy area lit by festoon lights with its own rustic timber bar. And there’s the multi-level River View Room. This pretty room fits around 100 guests for a sit-down dinner and 150 for cocktails.

When I was there, I found the staff very friendly and food was fantastic. The chefs are really creative and have a range of menus to suit different occasions – picnics, BBQs, cocktails or formal, seated dinners. They’re happy to chat about what you need.

ACCOMMODATION AND PARKING

Your guests can park at the venue, but public transport is unlikely. They will find a few cute places to stay in Yandina, but the venue is also only 10 minutes from Nambour and 20 minutes from Coolum Beach. So guests won’t have far to travel for somewhere to stay the night.
