What was your experience with Phil in the lead up to the wedding day?
Every dealing / contact we had with Phil from initial engagement to discuss and book the wedding, to our in person meetings before the wedding was everything we could ask for. Phil is extremely professional and has a sense of ease about him that makes you comfortable and subsides stress levels.
Do you feel everything was under control on the day?
Everything was incredibly under control on the day, having Phil as our videographer. From the moment he turned up to the rooms we were getting ready in, to the end of the night, he was incredibly easy to work with, directed the parties and guests extremely well, the creative ideas and direction he gave during the day was fantastic. We had members of the wedding party and guests praise us on how great Phil was with knowing exactly what to do with us and how he managed to make it such a fun experience and eliminate any sense of stress or rushing
Does Phil fit in with your wedding party and guests?
Phil absolutely fit in, every connection he had with guests, ourselves and our party was so organic. There were so many laughs with him and a down to earth presence about him
How was the overall experience on the day with Phil?
If it were to be numbered 1-10 we would have to say 11 out of 10. Phil was great, everything was so fluid, comfortable, fun and he also was able to shape and direct very intimate and special moments for ourselves and guests on the day which really mattered as well. We truly enjoyed having him be a part of our day and know he’s going to create something amazing for us to look back on over the many years to come.
Is there anything Phil could do to improve?
There were no flaws noticeable for Phil! He was such a pro from beginning to end, incredibly personable and a fun addition to our big day. We’d highly recommend Phil for any special event that requires his expertise
The Gold Coast Hinterland is a magical place to get married, with the mountains, tropical surrounds, beach and all the Gold Coast amenities at your feet. So it’s no wonder that some amazing wedding venues are located there.
Recently I was invited to film a wedding at Sol Gardens. Only 15 minutes from Currumbin Beach, Sol Gardens is a quaint and charming venue. It sits on 7 acres of tropical surrounds with manicured gardens, flowing streams, rock pools, bridges and fields.
It really ticked all the boxes for me – a lovely all-in-one venue for your ceremony and reception.
The experienced wedding planning team is headed by the manager, Jasmine. I thought their service throughout the whole day was excellent.
The team truly believes that no two weddings are the same, so you can either:
So Sol Gardens will suit you whether you want total freedom to design your wedding or want someone to do the hard work so you can just enjoy your special day. The team can provide a list of local vendors to help you put all the pieces together.
The venue has capacity for 85 guests, so it’s not a huge wedding – but it’s great if you don’t want to invite every long lost relative and Facebook friend!
When it comes to the ceremony, the choice is yours on this property. There are three main locations on beautiful spots under overhanging trees by the creek or in the garden. You can even have a tipi wedding with pretty styling like the wedding I attended.
The reception can be outside or inside, depending on your preference and the weather. It’s very special to dine on the lawn at long tables under the stars and lights – though you can also have a marquee if you wish.
You might prefer the indoor pavilion with its high ceilings and exposed beams. The view of the botanical gardens and lily pond out the large windows is very romantic. And there’s a dance floor area with sound system so you can party after dinner.
Again the catering is your choice. They do have an in-house, award-winning catering team, but they’re happy for you to bring in your own staff if they’re licensed. Also, the venue isn’t licensed for alcohol so you need to bring your own. But the staff are happy to serve it for you.
There are so many photo and video opportunities across this gorgeous location. It’s worth checking out their website gallery to see just how stunning they can turn out with this tropical backdrop.
They only have 50 car parking spaces, but a 57-seater bus is included in the package. Guests can be picked up and dropped off at taxi and Uber drop-off points if they pre-book.
Also, it does get cold in the valley in winter – as I experienced myself recently – so tell your guests to rug up if you decide on an outdoor wedding. They do provide a fire pit.
Importantly, this venue has a 10pm curfew. It’s a little on the early side, so this venue probably isn’t for you if you intend to party into the wee hours. And there are restrictions on live music – you can bring in a maximum 3-piece band, but no percussion, live drums or brass. (An electric drum kit is OK.)
If you want a pretty and romantic wedding in tropical gardens, this venue is worth checking out. Contact me if you have any queries or would like to discuss your upcoming wedding.
