Brockhurst Farm, Mount Mee Wedding

I had the opportunity to film a wedding at Brockhurst Farm in the D’Aguilar Ranges . It would be a fantastic venue for those looking for a relaxed and rustic country wedding that you can customize. The D’Aguilar Ranges are situated behind the charming town of Dayboro, approximately an hour from Brisbane. The venue is perched on a mountain amidst 22 acres of picturesque rolling hills and offers a stunning view of Brisbane.

The DIY wedding package

The owners of Brockhurst Farm like to keep it simple, so they have one wedding package. (If deciding about your wedding gives you choice paralysis, you’ll appreciate this!)

They offer self-catered or DIY weddings on the property. You hire the farm for three days and two nights – yours. You’re allowed up to 80 guests for your wedding and reception. You can also bring your dogs, as the venue is dog-friendly. There are just some rules you need to follow. (At the wedding I attended, the dogs were ring-bearers!)

Farm animals and wildlife are dotted all around the property. And at night, the stars are stunning across the black sky. However, if you’re having a wedding in winter, definitely rug up because it gets cold in the mountains. It’s a great place to sit before a fire and watch the mist roll across the mountains. But what about the wedding itself?

Ceremony and reception

On Brockhursat Farm there are many unique places on the 22 acres to hold your ceremony. It’s only a short walk to these locations. There is a wedding ceremony area that includes timber benches for 25 people and an antique school desk and chair for use as a signing table. The property has a purpose-built barn for your reception that you decorate yourself. It does come with the following:

  • 9 trestle tables and 80 white Americana chairs
  • a separate food preparation area and BBQ
  • a fire pit
  • fairy lights.

As this is a self-catered wedding venue, there is no catering on site – you must bring your food and alcohol. However, the venue does provide a great list of local suppliers and other accommodation places for your guests. And the website has lots of pretty photos to give you some inspiration.

Brockhurst Farm Photographs and footage

The area surrounding Brockhurst Farm is a beautiful place to fly a drone. Trees and open fields surround you. I got some fantastic footage while I was there. If you want to go outside for photos, you’ve got The Gantry, a picturesque picnic spot up the road. It has fantastic vistas in D’Aguilar National Park.

Ali and Andrew

Our day with Phil was absolutely perfect! Honestly, we couldn't find a single fault. Phil's personality and knowledge of the venue made everything feel so comfortable and enjoyable. We're so grateful to have these amazing memories to watch again and again. It was such a fantastic experience that I would recomend him to everyone

Accommodation

The wedding package includes several cabins for you and your guests. You can sleep up to 20 people across four self-contained cabins. A unique 1-bedroom cabin for the happy couple is called “Top Cottage”. The package also provides:

  • 1-bedroom Ridge Top Cabin – for up to 4 people
  • 2-bedroom Snuggle Inn Cabin – for up to 5 people
  • 4-bedroom Tallow Wood Cabin – for up to 8 people.

These cabins are great for getting ready for the wedding and staying in, but be aware that they’re very dark inside,], as they’re entirely wooden. (And quite cold in the winter.)

What I think of Brockhurst Farm?

Overall, I thought Brockhurst Farm is a great little venue where everything is in one place, so you don’t have to leave. The serenity certainly can’t be beat! Of course, there are a few rules – such as no drunken parties or late nights that may disturb people who live on adjoining properties. If this style of wedding appeals to you, you should definitely make the drive to Mount Mee to check out the venue, and the lovely little town while you’re there.
