Austinvilla Estate Wedding

Mudgeeraba is a gem of a town with lots of character, hidden away in the Gold Coast Hinterland. It has a cute little village full of great restaurants, cafes, and art and craft galleries, yet it’s not overrun with tourists. It’s the perfect area for a wedding venue with loads of character – which is exactly what you get with Austinvilla Estate.

This venue is only a few minutes out of Mudgeeraba in an area called Austinville. This unique rainforest retreat sits on 111 acres of native flora and fauna right on the edge of Springbrook National Park. If you love being in nature, this is the venue for you.

A venue with character

Austinvilla is an iconic estate that a local family bought and lovingly restored. The result is elegant, yet also rustic. It’s all about the vintage, right down to the overstuffed lounges, rugs and drapery. The estate prioritises sustainable living, so you’ll even find a veggie patch and chook pen on your exploration of the grounds. And there’s no need to go anywhere, as the venue has everything onsite, even a hair and beauty salon with award-winning stylists!

Austinvilla provides two lovely natural settings for your ceremony. The Wedding Pavilion is gorgeous and private wedding chapel in the bush. Surrounded by the sounds of wildlife, your guests will sit on rustic benches and you’ll sign your papers at an antique table. (I told you this venue was all about the character!) You can also have your ceremony on the large Rainforest Deck, which (obviously!) overlooks the rainforest. The wedding organisers will decorate the deck with fairy lights and festoon lighting. Your guests will relax on timber benches covered with sheepskin rugs.

After the ceremony, it will be time to explore the area for the best photo locations. To cover all this ground, you can take a golf buggy. This natural setting provides opportunities for some gorgeous sunset photographs.

The jewel in this venue’s crown is the traditional homestead where you’ll have your reception. This restored building has loads of rustic charm, while being warm and elegant. When you step inside, you’ll be captured by the flickering candles, stained glass, long timber tables, vintage furniture and chandeliers. You’ll also find a very comfortable sunken lounge, pool table and dance floor. Then you’ll step out onto the undercover deck to take in the large chandeliers and festoon lighting, as well as the hinterland views. If this sounds like somewhere comfortable and warm that you wouldn’t want to leave after a big day, you don’t have to.

Austinvilla Estate’s website states that brides have selected theirs as ‘Queensland’s number one honeymoon suite’. That’s quite a call but you can see why in the range of their accommodation offerings:

  • 10 x two-bedroom, shabby chic cottages
  • three boutique bunkhouses that fit 8 to 10 people
  • a unique treehouse
  • the award-winning deluxe regal suite.

You’ll also find a swimming pool, and tennis court on the grounds, as well as wallabies, koalas and kangaroos roaming around.

This venue has won several Australia Bridal Academy (ABIA) awards in categories such as Resort, Reception, Ceremony Venue and Function Coordinator. It’s definitely worth the drive up there to see this unique space. You may just fall in love with it.

Southeast Queensland was getting smashed with rain and wind. It was not looking suitable for James and Lisa’s wedding.

They had already postponed the wedding once because of COVID. It would have been devastating to have a horrible wet day at a beautiful location.

The previous day was horrible. It rained all day and was not looking good. But to everyone’s surprise, including me, the day turned out to be perfect. We could not have asked for a better day. The one benefit of having all the rain was everything was looking lush and green instead of the usual shades of brown.

My first visit to a Austinvilla Estate wedding

I’ve been to the rainforest hinterland before but never Austinvilla Estate. It’s great to go to a different location: lovely surroundings, beautifully manicured grounds, A real treat for any couple. The estate has its hair and makeup salon and a beautiful Octagonal room for the bride to get ready. Lisa and James held their ceremony at the wedding pavilion. A lovely setting for an intimate occasion.

The homestead has a very rustic romantic vibe. Chandeliers, lounges, pool table, festoon lighting and a large deck. A great way to mix with friends and family for the wedding.
